For a customer in the dairy industry, RvS Group created complete as-built P&ID documentation for the existing dairy production facility, including all process systems and utilities. The facility processes a wide range of dairy products, making accurate and up-to-date process documentation essential for safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
The importance of accurate and reliable P&ID documentation
Existing P&IDs often no longer reflect the current plant configuration due to modifications, expansions, and process improvements implemented over the years. This can result in:

- Reduced efficiency during process modifications and expansions
By developing accurate as-built P&ID documentation, the customer gains a complete and up-to-date overview of the process, supporting safe operations, effective communication during troubleshooting and modifications, and efficient onboarding of new operators.
Our structured approach at RvS Group
Where available, existing P&IDs were used as a starting point and further developed in AutoCAD Plant 3D. The facility was then physically inspected to verify the actual installation and systematically record all deviations. During this process, missing tag numbers were identified, as well as opportunities for process improvements and optimization.
Based on this verification process, RvS Group developed approximately 30 as-built P&IDs covering the entire production facility, including all process systems and utilities. The documentation was reviewed, optimized, and finalized into a consistent and standardized P&ID package. In addition, we provide periodic updates to incorporate future modifications and maintain accurate revision records.
Project delivery and results
Upon project completion, all P&IDs were delivered in both DWG and PDF formats and compiled into two identical documentation packages, ensuring that the latest process information is readily available both at the office and on-site. As a result, the customer now has accurate and reliable as-built documentation, supporting safe, efficient, and future-proof management of the production process.
